The Missionary Sisters of Service are praying for all participating in the First General Assembly of the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia, which begins today on 3 October (concluding on 10 October). Archbishop of Perth Timothy Costelloe SDB, the President of the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia, celebrated the Opening Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth for the first such gathering in Australia for 84 years. Read the homily, here.

We especially pray for our congregational leader, Stancea Vichie MSS, who has been part of the process and continues to be one of the participating members.

We pray that this historic event will develop concrete proposals to create a more missionary, Christ-centred Church in Australia. May we take up Jesus’ invitation to surrender ourselves fully in trust and hope as we prayerfully discern where the Holy Spirit is calling us!

Come Holy Spirit, Come!

Please continue to keep Stancea and all in your prayers.
