In our August 2025 newsletter, we have so much news to share! We share further updates for the new chapter of our mission entity Highways and Byways, now the ‘Mary MacKillop Today Highways and Byways Small Grants Program’, where 29 diverse projects have been funded across Australia, to the value of more than $125,500.
Some of our MSS joined thousands in Melbourne in June for the Walk for Truth, supporting First Nations’ recognition and treaties. The third MSS scholarship, granted to a young First Nations woman, was awarded to Alarna Page, empowering Alarna to undertake a Master of Theological Studies through the University of Divinity in Melbourne. This opportunity will deepen her understanding of theology, strengthen her identity as an Aboriginal Catholic woman, and enable her to drive meaningful change.
The newsletter also celebrates significant anniversaries for many of our Sisters, marking decades of dedication, and features Catherine Carr, the MSS’ Congregational Coordinator reflecting on her dynamic role of accompaniment within our community of women. Tributes are also paid to valued supporters Mary Wagner and Bernadette O’Connor, who sadly died in recent months.
