With COVID restrictions easing in Victoria, and case numbers remaining low (or zero) across Australia, we’re so pleased that shared meals can finally be a reality again! With this in mind, we invite you to host a Highways and Byways Fundraising Dinner, which raises much needed funds for our mission and outreach entity, Highways and Byways – A Community Of Service.

Highways and Byways – A Community of Service supports people and communities, particularly those experiencing disadvantage and exclusion in rural Australia. It does this through its annual small grants and longer term programs where it partners with local community organisations to build stronger communities. Having brainstormed ideas for fundraising in the current climate, we though hosing a dinner in your own home is a fun and safe way to help raise funds for our important mission work.  Having already trialled some fundraising dinners last year amongst the Board, friends of the Board and the MSS, we enjoyed evenings of great company, delicious dinners, and an opportunity to let others learn a little more of Highways and Byways.

INVITATION

We’d like to officially invite you to share a meal with family and friends as part of the ‘Food for the Highways and Byways Fundraising Dinner’ initiative. We’d be delighted with whatever amount you can raise for this cause (we’re just delighted that you’ve joined our community!)

If you decide you’d like to support Highways and Byways in this way, simply send an email to Andrea at admin@highwaysandbywaysltd.org.au with your name, address and intention to hold a dinner or whatever meal you may choose! We will then send you a dinner pack to kick off your event beautifully. This will contain some fabulous recipes from our beautiful MSS Food For The Highways and Byways Cookbook published last year, some extra newsletters and promotional material to give to your guests, as well as a set of beautiful Highways and Byways placemats and napkins. How can you resist!?

How much do I charge guests to join the dinner?

You can charge your guests as little or as much as you like. We are appreciative of ANY size donation.

What if I don’t know very much about Highways and Byways?

You will have copies of Highways and Byways’ latest newsletter to give out. We also suggest you have a look through the Highways and Byways website and direct others to have a look for themselves, maybe even before they join your dinner so they can start to get an idea what their dinner donation will go towards.

What is the timeline? When do I need to have the dinner?

There is no definite date, but if possible, we would like everyone to hold their event between now and the end of December 2020 at whatever date and time of day suits – brunches, lunches, afternoon tea parties, cocktails and nibbles, three course dinners – whatever you fancy!

Can I have more than one dinner?

Absolutely! Have as many as you like! And please, send us photos!!

What are we raising funds for?

All proceeds from the dinners will go towards Highways and Byways’ Small Grants Program for 2021.

How can I get the funds to Highways and Byways?

It’s easy. You can donate safely online on the Highways and Byways website.

Alternatively, you can send a cheque to Highways and Byways Ltd (PO BOX 2075, Rangeview, Victoria, 3132) or you can do direct credit into the account: Highways and Byways Ltd BSB: 06 3146 Acc Number 1047 8142

Together with our team at Highways and Byways, our community of women are going to continue to promote these dinners for the rest of the year. We would love it if you could send in any photos of your get-togethers. And if you post them to Facebook, please include us! You can find us on Facebook, here.  We’re also on Twitter.

Good luck, have fun and don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need more supplies.
